Spring and Summer '23 Fashion Trends

Spring & Summer Fashion Trend Forecast

I keep an eye on runway shows and fashion trends so you don’t have to. As a Sarasota Native, I filter through style trends to give you realistic style advice for all ages; and for the record I stray away from hyper-trends & fast fashion. I prefer a capsule wardrobe filled with quality materials and styles you'll wear for years.

Let's talk about Spring and Summer women's fashion trends that I love and how to wear them.

Dresses

I’m calling the overall theme of this year “casual chic”.

Over the past 2-3 years we’ve seen Athleisure wear takeover. It is still very prevalent but we’re seeing the popular everyday street style slowly elevate. For example, upgrade your leggings to a skirt or a whimsical dress but feel free to keep the sneakers on.

The juxtaposition of a feminine outfit paired with a chunky athletic sneaker is still really working; it's also very practical... which I love.

For dresses & skirts we’re seeing a lot of longer hemlines this year. Midi & Maxi dresses will be popular. If you really want to be ahead of the curve, denim maxi skirts are slowly becoming the “it” item amongst influencers and celebrities. It’s also a personal favorite trend of mine but I have a feeling this style wont be loved by the mainstream.

A style that I think we'll see amongst the masses are feminine details like bubble hems, bows and soft color palettes.

Below is a style from Motel Therapy's Spring Collection, available now.

Denim & Pants

For denim we’re seeing a quick revival of the skinny pant. They got a bad rep last year but designers are quickly welcoming the style back this year. If you still like the look of a skinny pant but want to feel modern & on trend, opt for a slim straight leg. This style is very wearable for all ages and seems to be preferred to the baggier styles we've been seeing Gen-z wear.

I love a full length denim seen here but I still also love an ankle style. In terms of wearability, the ankle style seems easier to style with shoes like sandals which makes most sense here in Florida.

Below is a great pair of Straight Denim from Motel Therapy's Spring Collection. The great thing about Rolla's Denim is it's 100% cotton so you can easily trim the bottoms if you're looking for an ankle length & you'll be left with a nice frayed hem

Trousers are still all the rage this year and look great worn casually with a sneaker and tee of your choice. I love a simple cotton tee or a graphic tee.

We're also seeing cargo styles more and more in the mainstream this year. We're seeing more elevated and feminine touches like silk cargo pants, cargo style skirts & cargo style shorts.

For sneakers, one of the most popular lifestyle sneakers at the moment are the Adidas Sambas (it also has a great price point at $100). The black Sambas were seen all over for Fall & Winter; I’ll be opting for a bright color for Spring & Summer. Other brands like New Balance also continue to be very popular and are releasing great modern lifestyle options.
